Packed Full of Great Advice If a small business owner never reads another book, this is the one they should read。 It’s full of great advice, both on marketing but also on the importance of systematising and keeping the end of the business journey in mind。 It’s given me lots of food for thought and a realisation that I need to rethink and re-engineer my company。 Highly recommended to those already in business and those thinking of starting up。

A friend suggested this book and I was SO glad that she did。 I still need to dive into that value-packed companion webpage and really fill out the One Page PDF that will pull all of this together but this was the type of book that I just couldn't stop taking notes while reading。 I was able to apply the learning right away in my copywriting and it helped me really think about my customer's journey。 This was a No Fluff read with lots of new ideas that weren't on my radar。 Refreshing! This is a highly recommended read。 I know just about all there is to know about sales conversion, but I was looking for a good read on marketing and promotion so that I can get noticed and have more opportunities to convert。 The 1-page marketing plan fills an important gap in the contemporary information available on effective promotion and client development。 It’s also a well-written, typo-free independently published book, so there’s no quality deficiency to detract from the solid business adv This is a highly recommended read。 I know just about all there is to know about sales conversion, but I was looking for a good read on marketing and promotion so that I can get noticed and have more opportunities to convert。 The 1-page marketing plan fills an important gap in the contemporary information available on effective promotion and client development。 It’s also a well-written, typo-free independently published book, so there’s no quality deficiency to detract from the solid business advice being dispensed。 There are a few bits of advice that I disagree with (such as the recommendation that promoters/salespeople develop an elevator pitch) but the few misses were not big enough to reduce my rating from 5 stars。 (Want to know what you should do instead of an elevator pitch? Identify 2 questions that you can ask a stranger to determine whether there’s a chance that they are part of your client profile。 Work those questions into the small talk instead of reciting a personal ad。 That way you will gather meaningful information and you won’t be pitching people who have no interest in what you’re selling。) 。。。more

Good book but no meatThe author gives good information about systems but stops short of actually telling you how to do it。 Example, he mentions that you should automate but does not。 give the name of the system that he is suggesting, this happens a lot。 It is like a woman saying, “I found a good dress” but then won’t tell you where she got it from。

Overall a fairly good book with an easy to follow marketing plan。 I felt the examples given were on the simpler side and wasn't nuanced。 I'd recommend reading this if you are in the early stages of your business career and would like a high level intro to marketing。In summary:There are three main phases of the marketing journey, aptly named the Before, During and After phases。Before: Getting prospects to understand you and your offering。 Composed of choosing your target market, crafting your mes Overall a fairly good book with an easy to follow marketing plan。 I felt the examples given were on the simpler side and wasn't nuanced。 I'd recommend reading this if you are in the early stages of your business career and would like a high level intro to marketing。In summary:There are three main phases of the marketing journey, aptly named the Before, During and After phases。Before: Getting prospects to understand you and your offering。 Composed of choosing your target market, crafting your message and reaching prospects via a variety of channels。During: Converting leads to paying customers。 Capturing leads, nurturing them and converting them to paying customers。After: Getting customers to grow your business for you。 Delivering a world class service, increasing the LTV and orchestrating and stimulating referrals。 。。。more

If you have a business, this book is a must read。 It changes the way you may perceive marketing as a "business-strategy"。 It really cuts through the noise and provides actionable knowledge to take your business the the next level and generate more money in the process。Just read this book, trust me it's worth it。 If you have a business, this book is a must read。 It changes the way you may perceive marketing as a "business-strategy"。 It really cuts through the noise and provides actionable knowledge to take your business the the next level and generate more money in the process。Just read this book, trust me it's worth it。 。。。more

I really like how approachable and digestible this book is。 It is well-written and the author clearly articulates, at a strategic level, and approach to developing a direct marketing plan。 As a product person I appreciate the mindset demonstrated by the author。 As a product person, I don't agree with everything that is written, I certainly appreciate the rationale from a world-class marketer。 Definitely a read worth having if you are struggling with your own marketing plan。 I really like how approachable and digestible this book is。 It is well-written and the author clearly articulates, at a strategic level, and approach to developing a direct marketing plan。 As a product person I appreciate the mindset demonstrated by the author。 As a product person, I don't agree with everything that is written, I certainly appreciate the rationale from a world-class marketer。 Definitely a read worth having if you are struggling with your own marketing plan。 。。。more

Very much written from the perspective of SME owners, but less beneficial to people who are working in bigger systems。 As with most such books, the focus is mainly on just reaffirming plain truths。

This is an incredibly clever book。 I recommend it to any new or small business owner looking to grow their business。 It covers how to identify and target potential customers, how to capture and convert leads, and how to retain customers。 As you will see, it comes down to being deliberate, putting the right systems and processes in place, and delivering value every step of the way。

SOOOOO BORING。 I was so excited to listen to this book。 The first few minutes were interesting and I was getting very excited to learn some new ideas about how to market our business。 But the further along we went, the further from the plot the author strayed。 It was meant to be a punchy, no-nonsense plan to market your business successfully。 What it turned out to be was a plodding, uninteresting series of contradictory statements (“don’t model yourself after big corporations like Apple” came ju SOOOOO BORING。 I was so excited to listen to this book。 The first few minutes were interesting and I was getting very excited to learn some new ideas about how to market our business。 But the further along we went, the further from the plot the author strayed。 It was meant to be a punchy, no-nonsense plan to market your business successfully。 What it turned out to be was a plodding, uninteresting series of contradictory statements (“don’t model yourself after big corporations like Apple” came just before “get a cult of devoted followers – just like Apple!”) and old business witticisms (“80% in the drawer is better than 100% out the door! Haha! Look at me, I’m so witty!”) thrown around without any substantive tips to market your business successfully。 Honestly, the audiobook narrator did his best (bless him) but this book just read like someone had given a cursory glance at a business studies textbook and went “I can do that!” Give this book a wide berth – and if you’re looking for an actually helpful book that is based around what he calls ‘direct response marketing’, please rather read ‘Building a Storybrand’ by Donald Miller instead。 。。。more
